Something for everyone at the inaugural Toronto International Track & Field Games

  

Toronto, ON -- A Corporate and Celebrity 4 x 100 metre Relay hosted by Entertainment Tonight Canada’s Rosey Edeh, a three-time track & field Olympian herself, kicks off the inaugural Toronto International Track & Field Games on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at University of Toronto’s Varsity Centre in downtown Toronto.

Each relay team will participate in a warm-up and mini-relay clinic conducted by track & field Olympians and coaches with each team being anchored by a celebrity runner. Participating celebrities include: CBC-TV Sports Hockey Night in Canada analyst and former NHL goalie Kevin Weekes, CityLine host Tracy Moore, CBC News’Dwight Drummond, ET Canada’s Rick Campanelli, cycling Olympic medalist Curt Harnett, Olympic bronze medalist hurdler Priscilla Lopes-Schliep and high jump sensation Nicole Forrester. Warm-up starts at 3:00pm with the first heat slated for 3:40pm.  This event is open to the public.  

 

Also FREE to the public and beginning at 6:00pm, spectators are invited to cheer on #1 World ranked shot putter, Canadian Dylan Armstrong, alongside 2010 Vancouver Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games CEO and Own the Podium Volunteer Chair, John Furlong.

Media do not require accreditation to attend the events above.

Media accreditation is required for the evening session on the track. At 6:50pm, the Toronto International Track & Field Games officially begin with the Opening Ceremony. In addition to top national and international senior competition and serving as the final stop on the five-meet coast-to-coast National Track League series, the Toronto Games also feature:

·       the crowning of Toronto’s Fastest Boy and Girl;

·       the Nike High School Showcase;

·       special guest host Farley Flex with on-field interviews by Rosey Edeh.
